Our story

It all started in 2016…

I was dealing with some personal issues; ones that affected me so deeply that I suffered from terrible depression. I found it difficult to get up each and every day and face the pain and sorrow. I would lock myself in my room and cry for hours on end. I would stare out to the balcony, contemplating if suicide was the answer to my problems.

I struggled to find happiness – looking for it in food, shopping, hanging with friends… anything. Nothing helped me to find the happiness I was searching for. Any moment of happiness was fleeting – here one second, gone the next.

My depression – I could feel it – was increasing as time passed on, but I was unable to express how I felt to my parents because they were also going through a difficult time.  When I was with other people, such as my parents, I’d pretend to be strong. The truth of the matter, I was weak and just wanted to die. I asked friends for help, but all I would get was, “Give it time; things will be okay.”

I knew and felt differently. It wouldn’t be okay. It was only going to get worse.

Finally, of close to a year in severe depression, I spoke to a psychiatrist. She classified me as clinically depressed and prescribed anti-depressants. However, anti-depressants only slow the mind down. It doesn’t get to the real problem behind the depression – the reason the depression came about in the first place.

This was when I decided to try mediation – to calm my mind and empower myself. I began with the Rajyoga Meditation, taught by Brahma Kumaris. It’s a unique meditation technique, as it helped me to understand my true self and connect with my Supreme Soul. I do it every day and experience true peace and happiness. It has allowed me – given me the power – to confront stressful situations.

I absolutely love the experience it gives.
